North Adelaide’s Tom Schwarz is fast developing into one of the most consistent midfielders in the Statewide Super League.
Selected at No.41 in the Statewide Super League Top 50, the 26-year-old is continuing to go about his business at Prospect much to the delight of the Roosters’ faithful.
Averaging 24.5 disposals in 2019, Schwarz was rewarded with North’s Most Consistent Award while also finishing in the top three for the Barrie Robran Medal as club champion.
Tough and never flustered inside the centre square, the former Woodville-West Torrens onballer also registered impressive averages of 4.3 tackles and 3.9 clearances in trying circumstances for the Roosters.
Schwarz’s work at the stoppages can be seen first hand in the vision below, in which he earned a nomination for Goal of the Week for kicking truly after breaking away with a clean clearance.
On the verge of chalking up his 100th Statewide Super League appearance, Schwarz has also been recognised by his peers after being elevated to the joint vice-captaincy under new skipper Alex Spina.
Selected by SANFL Media Producer Zac Milbank, the 2020 Statewide Super League Top 50 is being unveiled one player at a time on the League’s website and social media channels.
Form across the 2019 season was used as a significant factor in the selection process, with those winning awards such as best-and-fairests, being selected in State squads and leadership groups also looked upon favourably.
Recruits to the Statewide Super League have also been included, with significant AFL experience another element in deciding the order of players.
