Brianna’s roller-coaster ride to 50 SANFLW games

By ZAC MILBANK

Two premierships and two knee reconstructions, North Adelaide’s Brianna Arthur has certainly experienced the extreme highs and lows in her journey to 50 Hostplus SANFLW League games.

Set to reach her memorable milestone against South Adelaide on Saturday, the 24-year-old has taken longer than most to reach her goal, having made her SANFLW League debut in Round 1 of 2018.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Arthur wouldn’t have it any other way as her experiences have strengthened her resolve and developed strong bonds amongst her Rooster teammates.

Originally a talented tennis player as a junior, Arthur was also throwing herself into cross country running before Australian Football came calling in 2017, when she joined Broadview FC.

Admitting to feeling daunted upon her arrival at Prospect just 12 months later, Arthur quickly became an important piece of North’s premiership puzzle in 2020 and 2022.

After undergoing her first knee reconstruction in 2019, Arthur suffered another in 2023 as she only appeared in two matches last season.

But now she has shrugged off any lingering issues to thrive on and off the field, the latter providing her with the enviable opportunity to head up Roma Mitchell Secondary College’s AFLW program.
