Prolific West Adelaide midfielder Cade Kennedy has been rewarded for his consistency after being named the 2021 Torrens University Cup MVP.

The 18-year-old was a significant influence on the Bloods finishing third in the U18 Torrens University Cup this year, averaging 27 disposals, six marks, five tackles, four clearances and six inside 50s.

Recruited from the Mitcham Hawks, Kennedy was nominated for the Torrens University Cup MVP after his monster Round 7 performance which yielded 49 disposals, 15 marks, seven tackles and nine clearances in the Bloods’ win against the Eagles.

In his 17 games wearing the red and black this season, the Bloods’ captain was named in the best players on 12 occasions.

Also a member of the Torrens University SA U19 squad, Kennedy is the third West player to be crowned MVP after joining Ryan Dijksman in 2012 and Josh Smithson in 2017.

Introduced in 2009, the MVP Award is presented to the best performing player in the Under-18 Torrens University Cup Competition.

One player is nominated for the Award each round throughout the home-and-away season, with the overall winner selected by a panel of judges chaired by SANFL State Talent Manager Brenton Phillips.
