Round 11 Hostplus SANFLW League Match Wraps

South Adelaide easily accounted for Glenelg by 74 points at Magain Stadium in Round 11 of the Hostplus SANFLW League.

It was an evenly matched first half for both sides with only two goals in it at the main break, however the Tigers never really got a look in after half-time.

Doreena Hansen, Melissa Anderson, Emma Charlton, and Hope Taylor combined for five third-quarter majors to give the reigning premiers a 44-point lead at the penultimate break.

Four more goals in the final term to the Panthers gave them their biggest winning margin of the season.

AFL U18 Girls All-Australian and championship winning captain Emma Charlton continued her superb 2026 form with 32 disposals, nine clearances, eight tackles, and seven inside 50s.

Melissa Anderson (25 disposals, 11 marks, eight inside 50s), Jessica Chyer (12 tackles), and Taylor (three goals) were all instrumental in South’s important win.

Cassie McWilliam was once again a shining light for the Bays with her two goals, along with 17 disposals, 25 hit outs, and seven tackles in her side’s first outing under interim coach Mick Axon.

Georgie Fielder (25 disposals, six tackles) and Tori Evans (19 disposals, six marks), and debutant Lily Bartholomaeus (seven tackles), all battled hard in a difficult afternoon for Glenelg.

For the second time this season, Sturt and Woodville-West Torrens battled it out for a draw, this time at Thomas Farms Oval.

The Double Blues led by five points at quarter time, before going scoreless in the second term to hand the Eagles a 12-point lead the main break.

The lead then changed back to Sturt after four unanswered goals from Summer Ross, Alex Ballard, Madeline Nuss and Erin Conn – the home side heading into the last quarter 10 points up.

Klaudia O’Neill and Anika Tran found the goals for the Eagles in the last quarter, but wayward kicking from both teams ensured Sturt and the Eagles would record their second draw of the season.

Sturt’s Isobel Kuiper was superb with 20 disposals, 12 tackles, and six clearances, along with Alex Pearce (27 hit outs, eight tackles), Lily Whiteman (seven tackles, five marks), and Hannah Prenzler (14 disposals, five rebound 50s).

Eagles’ youngster Maia Freemantle was everywhere with 16 disposals, 12 tackles, and nine clearances, with Leah Cutting (28 hit outs), Lucy Moore (seven tackles, four clearances), and Tahlita Buethke (14 disposals, five clearances) among the best for the visitors.

A 30-point win over Central District has sent Norwood to the top of the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder.

Ashley Baker and Sophie Arkun opened Norwood’s account in the first quarter, with Central’s first goal coming in the second quarter from Alysha Healy.

It was an evenly matched third term, with two majors coming from both the Redlegs and Central, but it was not enough to sway the momentum in the visitors’ favour, with Norwood captain Jade Halfpenny sealing the game late in the fourth to put Norwood to the top of the ladder for the first time this season.

Halfpenny was in a league of her own on Sunday afternoon, collecting 32 disposals, nine marks, eight clearances, six tackles, and five inside 50s in her team’s cruicial win.

She was well supported by Lani Cocks who notched up 20 disposals and five tackles, with Emily Bartsch (21 disposals, six marks), and Amy Gaedtke (26 hit outs, five marks) also among the best for Norwood.

Miyu Endersby was excellent for the Dogs, recording 38 hit outs, along with 16 disposals and six tackles. She was well supported by Shelby Smith (10 tackles), Shannon Murphy (24 disposals, six marks), and Olivia Leslie (15 disposals, five marks).

North Adelaide notched its third win in succession with a 16-point triumph against West Adelaide at Richmond Oval.

A three-goal to one first quarter set the Roosters up for success, which included two goals from captain Amber Ward.

Ward kicked her third goal late in the second term, before Polly Turner and Chloe Nettle continued the Roosters’ sharp accuracy in front of goal.

Iilish Ross and Scarlett Blethyn found the goals late in the final quarter for West, but the damage was already done as the visitors notched up their sixth win of the season.

North’s Julia Clark (18 disposals, nine clearances), Ella Metcalfe (17 disposals, five marks), Ward (15 disposals, three goals, seven marks), and Turner (16 disposals, eight tackles, one goal) were all excellent for the visitors.

Zoe Venning was at her usual best with 30 disposals, seven marks, six clearances and five tackles, and was well supported by Emily Mableson (24 disposals, 11 tackles, seven clearances), Ross (23 disposals, six clearances, one goal), and Tess Huxtable (29 hit outs).
