Round 7 Statewide Super Women’s League Highlights

North Adelaide continued its unbeaten run with a convincing 45-point win against Norwood at Prospect Oval.

Leading by just two points at the first change, the Roosters made their move in the second term to extend the lead out to four goals while holding the Redlegs scoreless.

Krissie Steen’s charges then piled on another five goals to earn some more valuable percentage at the top of the premiership table.

The Roosters shared the goals around with Hannah Ewings, Kat Reynolds and Britt Perry each booting two while key defender Amber Ward was judged to be North’s best performer.

Norwood – boosted by the presence of Crows AFLW midfielder Najwa Allen and returned star Monique Hollick – still sits inside the top four despite the loss.

Glenelg kept its finals chances alive with a percentage-boosting 51-point win against Sturt at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

The Tigers led by just eight points at quarter-time but powered ahead across the remaining three terms whilst securing their second win of the season.

Bays coach Jason Fairall must have been pleased with the even spread of scoreboard contributors, with his side having eight players kick one goal each including Crows AFLW stars Ebony Marinoff and Eloise Jones.

Round 4 Powerade Breakthrough Player Tessa Kohn continued her impressive development to be named Glenelg’s best while experienced pair Deni Varnhagen and Ellie Kellock also made their presence felt.

The Double Blues were unable to register a goal but will be heartened by more strong performances from AFLW Academy member Zoe Prowse, Round 3 Powerade Breakthrough Player Izzy Kuiper and Mount Lofty recruit Elsie Dawes.

Central District hasn’t closed the door on sneaking into the top four after eclipsing the Eagles by 15 points at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Banking their second victory of the season, the Bulldogs led at every change to hold off the spirited hosts who won the scoreboard battle in the final term.

Star forward Katelyn Rosenzweig was again a difference-maker with a game-high three goals while speedy Central forward Latiah Huynh also chimed in with a major.

South Adelaide cemented its place in the top two with a hard-fought 18-point win against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium. 

Needing to keep the Bloods at bay on the premiership table, the Panthers did exactly that as they secured their sixth win for the season in unflattering style on the scoreboard.

Rick Watts’ charges had 14 shots on goal for just three majors, two of them kicked by star forward Teah Charlton, who was adjudged to be best-on-ground.

Key position player Gypsy Schirmer, just 16, was also high in South’s best along with ruck Indy Tahau and captain Lauren Buchanan.

Crows-listed trio Rachelle Martin, Maddie Newman and Chelsea Biddell had an impact for the Bloods, the latter kicking her team’s sole major for the game.

Round 5 Powerade Breakthrough Player Keeley Kustermann continued her rich form after being named in West’s better performers with Olivia Smith and Zoe Greer.
