SANFL aims to connect communities through the enjoyment of footy. Through clubs, websites, apps and in-person events, there is a lot of personal information shared between different applications however your privacy is important to SANFL and we aim to protect it where we can. This policy sets out how we collect, handle, share and store your personal information. We comply with Australian privacy legislation.

We do not trade, sell or rent your personal information.

Personal information is information that identifies you or could be used to identify you.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time and the new provisions will apply from the date they are updated on our website. We have included a ‘last updated’ date at the top of these terms to help you keep track of any changes. We will also endeavour to provide notice of changes to our social media followers.

By providing us with personal information, you consent to that information being collected, used, disclosed and stored in accordance with this privacy policy.

1. STAYING ANONYMOUS

You can browse our website anonymously. However, if you would like to become a member of SANFL or use any of our services, you will need to identify yourself to us, and at that point we will collect your personal information.

If you do not give personal information to us, it may affect our ability to provide you with products and/or services.

2. INFORMATION PARTNERS

As a football league, we don’t work in isolation. Your personal information is likely to be accessible by any one or more of SANFL Member or Licensed Clubs, clubs in any South Australian Affiliated League, Association or Club as part of our delivery of services to you. We require all of these organisations to do their best to comply with Australian privacy legislation as well.

To manage registrations, memberships and other functions, we partner with third party providers. We have listed the main providers below, together with a link for the respective privacy policies, so you can read more about how they collect, handle and use your personal information.

We share, receive, collect, store or process personal information with:

  • Your SANFL club – Central District, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood, South Adelaide, Sturt, West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens, will have access to the information contained in your SANFL Account, which is covered by this privacy policy.
  • Your SANFL Account is made available through SPORTSubs. See https://premier.sportsubs.com.au/app/privacy for more information.
  • Any service provided by the AFL or AFL Communities, including FootyFirst is covered by the Australian Football Bodies privacy policy. See https://www.afl.com.au/privacy for more information.
  • Your AUSKICK registration and other AFL information, AFL management (transfers, player registrations), competitions and resources are made available by Play HQ. See http://playhq.com/privacy for more information.
  • Livestream services are provided by VIMEO via SANFL branded Apps and via our website. See https://vimeo.com/privacy for more information. When you sign up for an account for our livestream services, you will be asked to agree to the terms of a condensed SANFL privacy policy. The condensed version includes the terms of this privacy policy as well as some information specific to the VIMEO platform.
  • Other associations supporting participation in football.

3. COLLECTING PERSONAL INFORMATION

At all times we aim to only collect the information we need for the services we are providing.  The kind of information that we collect from users and members may include:

  • your name, street address, contact details – phone, email, social media profiles
  • your role or title, photograph or likeness
  • your date of birth, age, gender, religion, cultural background or heritage
  • whether you identify as Indigenous and the land you come from
  • your school, your right to work in Australia,
  • sport you have played previously, fitness level, physical or intellectual disability
  • your availability, your qualifications to coach, train or umpire
  • criminal history check, Working with Children check
  • your association with any charity that requests a donation from SANFL
  • details of game tickets or merchandise ordered or purchased
  • opinions and beliefs provided via surveys and questionnaires

The main way we collect personal information about you is when you give it to us, for example:

  • when you complete an expression of interest
  • when you complete an application or registration form
  • when you sign up for a service eg livestream
  • when you become a member
  • when you build a profile in your SANFL Account
  • when you use the contact form on our website
  • when you call us, or contact us via social media
  • when you ask for access to information we hold about you
  • when you request to download from our website
  • when you complete a webform, enter a competition or respond to or interact with email marketing tools

We do not collect financial information such as bank card details. Online payments for our services are processed remotely through a secure payment gateway (Stripe) provided by SPORTSubs. Please see the SPORTSubs terms and conditions regarding management of your payment information.

4. COLLECTING INFORMATION FROM THIRD PARTIES

We may also collect personal information that is given to us by a third party (for example, a school or corporate partner or information that is on a publicly maintained record). This information forms part of the personal information described in this policy. We will not intentionally collect personal information that is unintentionally disclosed.

5. COLLECTING SENSITIVE INFORMATION

SANFL does actively collect sensitive information such as information about health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or criminal history. This information is used to help make available appropriate programs and services to players, coaches, umpires, volunteers and supporters. It may also be used to keep these people safe eg we may share this information in an emergency. We do take steps to appropriately protect any sensitive information we collect and to obtain your permission before making that information public.

6. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

SANFL provides information and services for all age groups. Any person under the age of 18 years must not create a SANFL account or register for any services without the involvement of a parent or legal guardian. Any information collected about a child will not be accepted without also requiring personal information about at least one parent or legal guardian. If you think your child has provided information to us without your consent, please contact us.

7. SOCIAL NETWORKING SERVICES AND LINKS TO OTHER WEBSITES

You can connect with us via our social media pages on Facebook @SANFLofficial, Twitter @SANFL, Instagram @SANFL_official and Youtube @SANFL.

Your SANFL club will also have its own social media accounts.

We may also provide links to other websites or use our social networking pages to communicate with the public about SANFL and related topics.

These social media accounts and other sites have their own privacy policies. When you communicate with us using these services, we may collect your personal information. Each social networking platform will also handle your personal information for its own purposes. You should become familiar with the privacy policies of any service you use.

8. HOW WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER IDENTIFIERS

We use a range of tools provided by third parties including our website host, third party service providers and search engine browsers to collect or view access and traffic information for statistical, reporting and maintenance purposes. Third party providers have their own privacy policies. We also may also use tracking pixels, cookies and session tools to improve your experience when accessing our online services.

The data collected by cookies does not usually identify you but may be combined with other information to identify you. If we identify you using information from cookies, we may use that information to track how you use our online services and send you information more specific to your needs, or to invite you to purchase our services.

The kind of information that can be collected includes:

  • device specific information such as mobile network information
  • server logs including your IP address, the times you use our services and system activity
  • location information including IP address, GPS, and Wi-Fi access points
  • local storage availability

We use the information to help to track your use of our online services to improve your user experience and the quality of our services. We may also use this information for targeting marketing or remarketing.

Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually modify your browser setting to decline cookies if you prefer. 9. SECURITY AND OVERSEAS RECIPIENTS

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. SANFL will take reasonable steps to protect all personal information within our direct control from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure we use respected hosting services, firewall and other electronic security procedures and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect from you.

We take reasonable steps to hold information securely in electronic or physical form in access-controlled premises or in electronic databases requiring logins and passwords. Our internal procedures may include risk assessment of misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure of your information, background tracking and records of changes made to your personal information.

We aim for the personal information collected via our online services to be stored and processed within Australia however this is not always possible. Even for storage within Australia, your personal information may still be mirrored or transferred across international borders. We aim to use reputable providers with privacy policies offering a similar standard of protection as this privacy policy.

Your information will be stored in our customer relationship management system, provided by SPORTSubs or PlayHQ. We use Mail Chimp for automated correspondence and email campaigns eg ClubHub newsletters.

You agree that, for compliance purposes, we may retain any of your personal information for a period of seven years, although we are not obliged to do so.

10. USE AND DISCLOSURE OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

The information that we collect about you is used:

  • to verify your identity,
  • to provide you with services,
  • to improve our services,
  • to provide you with information about events, products and services that may interest you,
  • to facilitate the internal business operations of SANFL and its associated clubs.

Other than as disclosed in this policy, we do not make your personal information available to any party that is not involved in football related activities.

We provide access to your personal information in accordance with Australian privacy law, and may share your personal information with our professional advisors for the purpose of obtaining advice, or for compliance with our accounting or regulatory obligations.

We may share your personal information with relevant authorities if required to do so by law or if we have reasonable grounds to be concerned about the welfare or safety of any person.

11. OPT-OUT/ UNSUBSCRIBE

Our online services include facilities to enable you to opt-out of different types of communications. Opting out of one type of communication does not necessarily mean you will stop receiving all communications. Please check the communication settings on your account and the unsubscribe features of emails received from SANFL.

If you continue to receive communications you have unsubscribed from, please contact us as [email protected] and we will remedy the problem.

12. THE OFFICIAL SANFL APP(S)

By downloading and using the Official SANFL App(s), you agree that the App(s) has access to:

  • your device details, identity, status, call information and history of app usage
  • your personal identity and contacts
  • the accounts you have on your device for accessing the App and stores for purchasing apps
  • your calendar events, which may include access to confidential information
  • add or modify calendar events and send email to guests without your knowledge or involvement
  • your location services including network location and precise GPS location
  • your USB storage contents to read, modify or delete the contents including photos, media and files
  • receive data from the internet, view your network connections, control vibration on your device, prevent your device from sleeping
  • read service configuration for you suppliers like Google and Apple.

Updates to the Official SANFL App(s) may automatically add or remove capabilities.

13. ACCESSING AND CORRECTING YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

You may request copies of the information we hold about you, which will only be provided electronically. You have the ability to make a request to amend or correct that information. If we do not agree with your requested change, we will keep a copy of your request with our information.

14. MANDATORY DATA REPORTING

If any of your personal information is lost, accessed or disclosed by us, whether intentionally, unintentionally or through no fault of SANFL we will comply with mandatory data breach notification requirements.

We are required to notify any affected person within 30 days if the loss or disclosure of data is likely to result in serious harm to that person.

15. GDPR AND INTERNATIONAL PRIVACY LEGISLATION

Our services are not intended to be accessed or used by residents in the EEA nor do our website or online services target users in this region. We recognise however that it is possible for a resident in the EEA to access some of our services. If you are a resident of the EEA, you may have additional rights in relation to opting out of cookies, accessing, correcting or deleting your personal information or objecting to the processing of your personal information. While these additional features are not built into our online services, we can generally assist you with them if you contact us.

If you are an EEA resident and require assistance or have a specific request that is not covered by this privacy policy, please contact us and we will try to assist you. We may require additional information to be able to assist you. We may impose a reasonable fee if your request imposes an unreasonable cost to us.

This offer for assistance also applies if you have additional rights under other international privacy legislation that we have an obligation to comply with.

16. FEEDBACK, COMMENTS OR COMPLAINTS

If you have any concerns about our use of your personal information, please contact us at [email protected] and let us know what the problem is. We will acknowledge receipt and then respond to your privacy concerns within 30 days.

At all times privacy complaints will:

  • be treated seriously,
  • be dealt with promptly,
  • be dealt with confidentially
  • not affect your existing obligations or agreements with SANFL or any associated club.
