Central District co-captain Jarrod Schiller never imagined he’d be set to play his 250th Hostplus SANFL League match when he first embarked on his SANFL journey.
As he prepares for his massive milestone game this Saturday against North Adelaide at X Convenience Oval, the 32-year-old admitted his body is holding up well for his age and is hoping that continues well into this year’s finals series.
The triple Norm Russell Medallist revealed spending more time in attack, with fewer stints in the midfield, has helped his battle-weary body survive the ‘bash and crash’ of League footy and even resulted in him securing the 2023 7 News Adelaide SANFL Goal of the Year award for his clever kick over the head.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the Bulldogs No.38 said he’s not sure what’s in store for next season, but he and his family, as well as the club, will discuss whether he continues playing beyond the end of the year.
But before then, the physiotherapist is focusing on defeating the Roosters to push into the the top three with consistent form.
Schiller said last year’s finals berth revitalised him in the twilight of his career, as it was the first time the Doggies have played finals since 2017.
