The South Australian Football Commission is pleased to announce the appointment of leading communications adviser and former news director and radio presenter Nicole Haack as a member of the Commission.
The Managing Director of Adelaide-based strategic communications firm The Message Bureau, Ms Haack was recently appointed to the Commission on a two-year term.
Ms Haack has extensive experience across both the private and public sector in stakeholder engagement, strategic communications, issues and crisis management, digital marketing and change management.
She is currently a director of the Adelaide Central Market Authority and has held leadership
positions on numerous boards, including Chair of both Variety Australia and Variety South Australia and Director of Raising Literacy Australia and the Cora Barclay Centre.
Ms Haack is also a former Telstra Young Businesswoman of the Year and a recipient of the Prime Minister’s Centenary Medal for service to business.
Commission Chairman Rob Kerin said Ms Haack’s strong skills set and experience in communications, marketing and stakeholder engagement, coupled with her passion for the role of football, would bring value and fresh ideas to the Commission.
“Nicole will offer a new perspective on leadership and strategic thinking and shares our strong commitment to best-practice governance in assisting the SANFL to grow its diverse operations,” Mr Kerin said.
Growing up as a passionate North Adelaide supporter, Ms Haack later moved her allegiance to the Redlegs once living in the Norwood area later in life.
“Sport has always played a significant role in my life from a young age to today and I look forward to contributing to the progression of a strong and sustainable future for the SANFL,” she said.
“Football has a really important role to play in connecting communities and keeping people meaningfully engaged and I think the importance of that has only been heightened by COVID-19.
“Sport, and particularly grassroots footy, is part of our social fabric and has an incredible ability to mobilise and inspire people and in doing so create positive change.”
