Two late goals kicked by Tiger Anders McShane rescued the Torrens University SANFL U18 premiership points for Glenelg as it edged out Sturt by just five points at Thebarton Oval.

Despite dominating possessions (383 to 252) and inside 50 entries (52 to 36), the Bays found themselves trailing by seven points on the verge of time-on in the fourth quarter.

But McShane’s consecutive majors within three minutes proved to be enough as his side secured its first win of the year.

McShane, who also collected 33 disposals, Archer Rouvray (22 disposals, two goals) and Conor Gluyas (22 disposals, one goal) were high among the Bays’ best players.

Sturt’s Ted Newman (20 disposals), Connor Mills (21 disposals, five tackles) and Henry Maerschel (15 disposals) fought hard for their team.

Restricting the Panthers to only two behinds in the fourth quarter, the hosts tallied an usual scoreline of 6.20 (56) to claim their second win of the season.

Bulldog Liam Fawcett was a huge contributor with 27 disposals, 14 marks and three goals while teammates Noah McDonald (17 disposals) and Jonah Pyman (10 disposals) were lauded by their coaches.

South captain Nicholas Schroder (16 disposals, seven marks) continued his strong start to the season while Phoenix Hargrave made an impression with 25 disposals, 10 marks and a goal.

Norwood finished strongly to brush aside Woodville-West Torrens by 15 points at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Leading by just three points 15 minutes into the final quarter, the Redlegs booted two late goals – via Jay Polkinghorne and Grant Catalano – to secure victory on foreign soil.

Norwood pair Jack Michalanney (21 disposals) and Jacob Newton (23 disposals) were critical contributors in the triumph while teammate Ben Purdie kicked three goals.

Eagles midfielder Kade Herbert was prolific in his efforts with 30 disposals, five clearances and seven tackles while Jake Andrews and Darcy Hudson (16 disposals each) also drew praise.

North teammates Hugh Payze (27 disposals) and Louis Montgomery (22 disposals and a goal) were also busy for the visitors.

Patton, playing his first game of the season after missing Round 1, collected 27 disposals and six marks to be the Bloods best as he received strong support from Oscar Talbot (12 disposals) and Padrick O’Donoghue (11 disposals).
