Sturt defeated Woodville-West Torrens by 18 points in a low-scoring affair at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval in Round 2 of the AAMI Talent League Boys U16s.

The Eagles led by 12 points at the first break, but the Double Blues kicked into gear soon after and nailed the next six goals to break open the contest.

Sturt on-baller Hugh Kellaway managed 29 disposals, six marks and a goal and ruckman Angus Penney finished with 12 disposals, 20 hit-outs and six clearances.

Eagle Jude Cowan (37 disposals, seven marks and seven rebound-50s) had no trouble finding the ball despite the loss.

Norwood kicked off its campaign with a narrow 10-point victory over Central District at X Convenience Oval despite inaccuracies in front of goal.

The Redlegs kicked 8.17 (65) for the match but held on to win despite a dominant performance from Bulldog on-baller Logan Treverton.

Treverton racked up 41 disposals, 10 marks and nine clearances to help Central win the stoppage battle, but the hosts struggled to generate inside 50s.

Norwood’s Tyler Hitch finished with 22 disposals, nine inside-50s and two goals in a well-rounded display.

Glenelg opened its account with a strong 33-point win over reigning premier West Adelaide at Richmond Oval.

Both sides had their moments inside 50 in the first term, but a four-goal haul from forward Ryder Lindner helped the Bays establish a match-winning lead by the start of the second half.

Tiger Zane Rooney led the way in the middle, collecting 30 disposals, 10 marks and 10 inside-50s, while teammate Jack Gallagher finished with 27 disposals and a goal.

Samuel DePalma (26 disposals, seven clearances and a goal) and Naman Mittal (24 disposals and seven inside-50s) fought hard for the Bloods.

A dominant second half helped South Adelaide breeze past North Adelaide by 36 points at Magain Stadium.

After trailing by 11 points at quarter-time, the Panthers kicked nine of the next 11 goals to storm home and get their season off to a winning start.

South’s Fergus Vogt (25 disposals, 10 marks and three goals) impressed up forward while teammate Lachlan Gill (33 disposals and eight clearances) played a key role in his side gaining the midfield ascendancy.

North Adelaide’s Samuel Pedlar booted three first-term goals and on-baller Harry Hobby gathered a game-high 34 possessions.
