The best SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League players are set to go head-to-head in a 2020 NAB AFLW All-Stars match to be played at Thebarton Oval on Friday September 11.
In what looms as a pivotal opportunity for SA’s best female footballers to showcase their skills ahead of the AFLW Draft, the contest will feature the most promising young, and mature-age, footballers playing in this year’s Statewide Super Women’s League.
It will be the second game of a double-header to be played under lights, following an U16 AFLW Next Generation Academy match.
That game, to be played as a curtain-raiser, will feature the State’s most talented female junior footballers.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, SANFL Female Talent Manager Robbie Neill said 48 players had been chosen for the game, with the two squads to be finalised in the week of the match.
Training will begin on September 1 in the lead up to the match, which will then be followed by SA’s NAB AFLW Combine to be held in conjunction with the local-arm of the NAB AFL Combine at Immanuel College on Wednesday September 30.
The AFLW Draft will be held in virtual format from 6.30pm (SA time) on Tuesday October 6.
