Couzner named new State Inclusive Coach

By ZAC MILBANK

Experienced mentor Dave Couzner has been appointed as the new South Australian Inclusive Coach ahead of the 2020 AFL National Inclusion Carnival.

Boasting experience at SANFL clubs Sturt and Norwood, as well as being a current board member at Woodville-West Torrens, Couzner will guide the Croweaters at this year’s AFL National Inclusion Carnival in Blacktown, Sydney from June 27 to July 3.

”I’m extremely honoured to be chosen to coach the SANFL State Inclusive Academy,” Couzner said.

”I’m looking forward to working with SANFL to create and implement a high-performance sporting environment for players with an intellectual disability.

”The coaching group has a strong focus on player engagement and development as well as ensuring strong social inclusion within the community.”

Couzner will be joined by assistant coaches Peter Diamandopoulos, Mitchell Noye and Tim Slaven as they seek to improve on the Croweaters’ fourth-placing at the AFL National Inclusion Carnival in 2019.

Players with an intellectual disability can register their interest to join SANFL’s State Inclusive Academy by attending a light training session on Friday March 20 at Fitzroy Football Club, Renown Park from 5.30pm.
