Sturt midfielder Brad Jefferies has become just the second Double Blue in 30 years to win the Reserves Magarey Medal after receiving the prestigious trophy in 2024.
Polling 17 votes across the minor round, the 21-year-old leapfrogged Glenelg runner-up Ben Ridgway when he attracted two votes in the Round 19 contest against Central District.
Ridgway, who spent the last month of the season in the Bays’ league team, finished with 16 votes while Glenelg teammate Connor McLeod placed third with 15.
Recruited from Onkaparinga Valley Football Club, Jefferies averaged 24 disposals, five clearances and six tackles in his 12 appearances.
The 21-year-old joins Double Blues teammate Charlie Molan, who last year became the first Sturt player since Brendan Roberson in 1993 to win the Reserves Magarey Medal.
Rounding out the top five vote-winners were Norwood’s Luke Bogle on 14 and West Adelaide’s Mitch Maguire on 12.
