Prolific North Adelaide midfielder Billy Dowling has been rewarded for his possession-winning ways after winning the 2022 Torrens University MVP Award.

A key member of the Torrens University SA U18 team, Dowling racked up eye-catching numbers after featuring in 11 matches for the Roosters this season.

The 18-year-old averaged an impressive 31 disposals, seven marks, five tackles, five clearances, six inside 50s and 128 Champion Data ranking points per game.

This was underlined when Dowling was nominated for the MVP Award in Round 16, racking up an incredible 44 disposals, nine marks, seven clearances, seven inside 50s, six tackles and four goals against Glenelg.

Recruited from Walkerville FC, Dowling joins fellow Roosters Liam Jacka (2013) and Harrison Magor (2019) in winning the Torrens University Cup MVP Award.

Introduced in 2009, the MVP Award is presented to the best performing player in the Under-18 Torrens University Cup Competition.

One player is nominated for the Award each round throughout the home-and-away season, with the overall winner selected by a panel of judges chaired by SANFL Head of Talent Brenton Phillips.
