2019 Torrens University SA U16 Squad

By ZAC MILBANK

The 2019 Torrens University SA Under-16 Squad has been released, with three players included from last year’s AFL National Championship winning team.

To be coached by Under-16 All-Australian mentor Julian Farkas, the Croweaters will boast clever Central District goalsneak Isaiah Dudley and South Adelaide pair Jason Horne and Matthew Roberts from the victorious 2018 side.

Their experience will be vital as South Australia prepares to defend its crown across three AFL U16 National Championship matches during June and July.

Horne, pictured above by Peter Argent, took this match-winning mark in the final minute of last year’s dramatic win against the Sandgropers at Alberton Oval.

The Croweaters’ squad, which also includes Eagle Jase Burgoyne, the son of Power premiership star Peter Burgoyne, will face Western Australia in its first match on Sunday June 16 at Leederville Oval.

As per previous campaigns, they will then head north to play Victoria Metro (Monday July 8) at Southport and Victoria Country (Friday July 12) at the Gabba during the School Holidays.

Training will begin at Thebarton Oval next Tuesday, with four trial matches to be played throughout the period against the U17 Futures State team as well as Sacred Heart, Rostrevor and Prince Alfred Colleges.
