As much as Neil Kerley was a revered figure of force on the field, off it, he was very much the entertainer.

The South Australian football legend was only to happy to ham it up for the cameras for a skit or tell an old tale with great passion and perhaps at times, exaggeration.

It’s why he captured the hearts of all Croweaters as an underrated media performer well after his official involvement in the game.

Whether it be recounting his infamous incident with SANFL field umpire Ken K.G Cunningham in the 1964 Preliminary Final, or racing against Victorian foe Ron Barrassi on an exercise bike, Kerls always held centre court.
