Clubs are encouraged to visit their relevant Local Council website to understand what support their Council may be able to provide.

Initiatives may include deferral of rate payment, access to business advice or Council managed grant programs.

RENT/LEASE RELIEF

The following Councils are offering lease/rent relief to Businesses in Council owned facilities, including Sporting Clubs and Associations:

  • City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters

  • Renmark Paringa Council
  • City of Salisbury
  • City of Victor Harbor
  • Wakefield Regional Council
  • City of West Torrens

Clubs in the above Council areas should speak with a Council representative to confirm the arrangements on offer.

Many Councils have flagged lease/rent relief as an item for discussion at May Council meetings.

REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT AUSTRALIA

Regional Development Australia (RDA) is an Australian Government initiative that brings together all levels of government to enhance the development of Australia’s regions. A national network of RDA committees has been established to achieve this objective.

In SA there are eight RDA Boards covering all areas of the state including metropolitan Adelaide. SA’s unique funding model includes substantial financial contributions by all three levels of government, as well as in-kind support and cooperation.

Under the RDA charter, SA RDA Boards are responsible for:

  • providing independent advice to all three levels of government on critical issues affecting their regions
  • collaborating with relevant stakeholders to identify economic opportunities and leverage private and public sector investment to their regions
  • connecting regional businesses, councils and industry sectors with international trade partners, financial markets and potential investors
  • working closely with community leaders to identify funding sources and develop project proposals to support economic growth
  • providing assistance to local communities to develop project proposals to support economic growth
  • promoting awareness of government programs in the RDA community
