Woodville-West Torrens overcame a slow start to defeat North Adelaide by eight points at X Convenience Oval.

The Roosters got off to a superb start, kicking four unanswered goals in the first quarter to take a solid 27-point lead into the first break.

High flying Eagles’ forward Klaudia O’Neill got the comeback underway early in the second term, kicking the first of her three goals, before Lucy Moore kicked a ripping goal around the body, the margin suddenly only one goal at half-time.

Aprille Crooks steadied the ship for the Roosters in the third quarter, their number 10 kicking an excellent running goal to extend North’s lead out to 12 points.

However, the Roosters were no match for Narelle Smith’s charges, who finally put the jets on as 50-gamer Cheryllee Waters kicked two majors, with O’Neill kicking her third and Ruby Matthews also finding the goals to make the unlikeliest of comebacks.

Eagles’ Alice Tentye’s breakout season continued as she notched up 24 disposals, 11 tackles, and three clearances, with Tahlita Buethke (28 disposals, seven marks, five inside 50s), Bianca Portaro (20 disposals, six tackles, five marks), and Moore (17 disposals, seven tackles, six clearances) among some of the main contributors for the ladder leaders.

North captain Amber Ward led the way for the Roosters with 18 disposals and six clearances, as Audrey Holt (12 tackles), Lakeisha Sheffield (11 tackles), and Ella Metcalfe (five marks) battled hard all morning.

Norwood claimed an emphatic 37-point win against West Adelaide at X Convenience Oval.

It was a slow start for both teams, with the Redlegs’ Elke Cameron kicking the lone goal in the first quarter.

There were goals galore in the second though, with Norwood slotting four majors, and West Adelaide two, the Redlegs taking a handy 15-point break into the main break.

Westies’ Jemma Ellis opened the scoring in the second half, before Norwood kicked four unanswered goals through Ashley Baker, Elle Lineage, Lani Cocks and Amelia Rusden, the Bloods struggling to combat Norwood’s 39 inside 50s.

The Redlegs only found the goals once in the final quarter – Lineage kicking her fourth – as Ellis kicked her second for West, slightly minimising the scoreboard damage.

Norwood captain Jade Halfpenny had one of the outings for the year, collecting 41 disposals, along with eight clearances, eight inside 50s and six tackles.

Eyre Peninsula product Lani Cocks (36 disposals, eight inside 50s, seven clearances), debutant Ella Anderson (16 disposals, five rebound 50s, five marks) and Cameron (nine tackles) were also among some of the best for the Redlegs.

Emily Mableson had a prolific showing for West, laying a staggering 18 tackles to go with 26 disposals, seven inside 50s, seven rebound 50s and five tackles, as Zoe Venning (24 disposals, seven marks, five tackles), Ella Maxwell (22 disposals, five rebound 50s), and Stevie-Lee Thompson (15 disposals, eight tackles) all performed well in a tough day for the Bloods.

Central District and Glenelg battled it out for a draw at X Convenience Oval.

Capping off the second of the SAPN Energised Rounds, the Doggies got off to a strong start with goals from Tesharna Maher and Shelby Smith to take a two-goal lead into quarter time.

Lauren Breguet continued the scoring for Central in the second term, as the Tigers went goalless in the first half.

The visitors came out firing in the third quarter, as Kori Webb (two goals) and Kiana Lee gave the visitors a two-point lead heading into the final term.

Breguet put the Dogs back in front early in the final term, with a Central victory looking likely, however Lee took a strong grab directly in front of goal, and went back to level the scores, with neither team able to break through for a match-winning score.

Olivia Leslie (21 disposals, seven marks), Smith (15 disposals, 11 tackles, six clearances), Miyu Endersby (31 hit outs, six inside 50s), and debutant Sienna Antony (nine tackles) were all excellent for the home side.

Glenelg co-captain Asha Dufour was excellent for the visitors with 22 disposals, seven tackles, and six marks, and was well supported by Webb (16 disposals, six marks, two goals), Lee (17 disposals, five marks, two goals), and Georgie Fielder (23 disposals).

South Adelaide pulled off a last-grasp victory defeating Sturt by six points at Magain Stadium.

The Panthers got off to a strong start, kicking two goals in the first half, as Sturt struggled to get the ball inside its forward 50.

The start of the third quarter was no different, with Layla Vizgaudis slotting her second, before the Double Blues kicked three goals from Madeline Nuss, Georgia King and Amy Brooks-Birve to head into the penultimate break only five points down.

After a couple of behinds from both teams, Nuss kicked her second to level the scores and a second draw of the round seemed imminent.

Enter Hope Taylor.

The Panthers goalsneak got on the end of a kick from Laquoiya Cockatoo-Motlap, taking a mark directly in front of goal and kicking truly, the siren sounding shortly after.

Melissa Anderson (16 disposals, nine marks, five tackles), Vizgaudis (29 disposals, nine clearances), Jessica Chyer (19 disposals, 10 tackles), and Soriah Moon (38 hit outs, five tackles) were all prolific as South now sits second on the ladder.

Double Blues midfielder Isobel Kuiper was everywhere was 19 disposals, five marks, and eight tackles, with Claudia Edmonds (18 disposals, three clearances), Alex Ballard (five marks), and Lily Whitcombe (seven tackles) all performing well in a heartbreaking loss for Sturt.
