Woodville-West Torrens claimed a scrappy one-goal win over South Adelaide at Magain Stadium in the 2025 Hostplus SANFLW League Grand Final rematch.

In difficult conditions, it was the Eagles who got off to a flying start in the first term, as Klaudia O’Neill kicked back-to-back majors before Jiarna Zerella found the goals to give the visitors a 20-point lead at quarter time.

It was a different story in the second quarter, with the Panthers taking control of the game, as Emma Charlton and Melissa Anderson combined for two majors to reduce the margin to seven points at the main break.

A brilliant snap from Eagles’ Cherylle Waters in the third quarter extended the lead out to 13 points at the penultimate break, with South goal sneak Hope Taylor slotting one late in the final term, but it was not enough for South as the Eagles turned the tables on last year’s premier.

Eagles’ Alice Tentye was superb with 30 disposals, seven marks and eight tackles, along with Tahlita Buethke (19 disposals, six tackles, five rebound 50s), Popi Gikas (eight tackles) and Lucy Moore (20 disposals, nine clearances, seven tackles, six inside 50s).

Holly Ifould was the Panthers’ leading disposal-getter with 24, Melissa Anderson (nine tackles), Emma Charlton (18 disposals, seven tackles, six inside 50s, five clearances) and Soriah Moon (29 hit outs, six clearances) were also among the best for South.

North Adelaide secured its third win of the season with a 13-point victory over Sturt at Thomas Farms Oval.

The Roosters dominated the first quarter with three goals from Polly Turner, Lakeisha Sheffield and Abbie Player, the visitors heading into the first break 17 points up.

After a back and forth second term where no goals were scored, North’s Aprille Crooks broke through for the Roosters’ fourth major, leaving the Double Blues goalless in the first three quarters after a host of missed opportunities in front of goal.

Georgia King finally broke through for Sturt with its first goal early in the final term, the momentum finally starting to shift in the Double Blues favour as Ruby Cunningham kicked the home side’s second to reduce the margin to eight points with over 15 minutes to go.

However, the Double Blues’ comeback was short-lived as Turner kicked her second to steady the ship for the Roosters, who now sit just outside the top four on percentage.

Gun recruit Sophie Armitstead was everywhere for North with 20 disposals, 12 tackles and six clearances, and was well supported by Ella Metcalfe (18 disposals, seven tackles, four marks), Jasmine Dallimore (39 hit outs) and Crooks (10 tackles).

Lily Whiteman (17 disposals, 13 tackles), Isobel Kuiper (22 disposals, 10 tackles, nine clearances), Georgia Swan (16 disposals, 11 tackles) and Isabella Drew (seven marks) were among the best for the Double Blues on a tough afternoon.

Glenelg secured its first win of the season, defeating West Adelaide by 25 points at Stratarama Stadium.

Prized recruits Deni Varnhagen and Kiana Lee got the scoring underway for the Tigers in the first quarter, with the Bloods struggling to stop the onslaught as the home side recorded double the number of forward entries than the visitors (40 to 19).

Eloise Mackereth was the only other goalscorer for Glenelg, the Tigers not making the most of their forward entries, kicking 10 behinds, as West went goalless for the second time this season.

Glenelg’s Cassie McWilliam was best afield with 36 hit outs, 16 disposals, six tackles and five clearances, as Kiahni Russell (10 tackles), Isla Wiencke (23 disposals, six tackles, six clearances) and Ellie Kellock (16 disposals, six tackles) all starred for the Tigers.

Zoe Venning (27 disposals, five tackles, five clearances) led the way for the Bloods, with Emily Mableson (20 disposals, 13 tackles, seven clearances), Iilish Ross (21 disposals, 10 tackles, seven clearances) and Stevie-Lee Thompson (16 disposals, six rebound 50s) all battling hard.

Norwood produced a stunning 10-point victory, coming from behind to defeat Central District at X Convenience Oval.

The Redlegs kicked the opening two goals of the game, before Central’s Ella Randall got the Doggies on the board shortly after.

Heading into the second quarter 11 points up, Sophie Arkun extended the Redlegs’ lead out to 16 points with a goal on the run, with Holly Tralaggan taking a strong grab before going back and kicking truly for the Dogs, reducing the margin to 10 points at half-time.

Elle Lineage got things under control for the visitors early in the third quarter, however, three unanswered goals from the Dogs suddenly put them two points in front with nine minutes to go.

Baker laid a brilliant tackle which saw her awarded a holding the ball free, going back and converting to put the Redlegs back in front, as Mykaela Walker found herself all alone in the forward 50, getting on the receiving end of a kick from Steph Simmonds and running into an open goal to seal the game for the Norwood.

Jade Halfpenny was prolific across the ground for Norwood, collecting 31 disposals to go with her 10 tackles and six clearances, as were Lani Cocks (24 disposals, four tackles), Abby Klaebe (13 tackles and Coby Morgan (19 disposals).

Port District product Izabella Nisbet continued her strong start to her Hostplus SANFLW League career with 22 disposals, nine tackles and five inside 50s, with Shelby Smith (23 disposals, seven tackles), Tralaggan (18 disposals, six tackles, six clearances) and Laitiah Huynh (eight tackles) all solid for Central.
