South Australia will kick off its 2025 MARSH AFLW National Championships campaign this Sunday against Vic Metro at RSEA Park, Melbourne from 1.20pm (ACST).
Captained by dominant Eagles’ utility Imogen Trengove, the Croweaters will face last year’s national champions in the first of their four hit outs.
Plenty of Hostplus SANFLW League talent will take to the field on Sunday, including Sturt defender and squad vice-captain Sophie Thredgold, 2025 Powerade Breakthrough Players Sophie Eaton, Emma Charlton, Taya Maxwell, Monique Bessen, Lily Smart and Layla Vizgaudis.
Maxwell, who has been recognised as an emerging leader amongst the squad, will start in the ruck for SA and will be well supported in the middle by Charlton, who has been averaging 21.2 disposals across ten games, along with bottom-ager Georgie Fielder, with the Tigers midfielder having played all 11 matches for The Bays in season 2025.
There will be numerous avenues for goals on Sunday afternoon, with North Adelaide’s leading goalkicker for 2025 Polly Turner named at centre-half-forward, along with Trengove who has kicked 10 goals for the Eagles this year so far.
The girls – coached by former Norwood SANFLW Head Coach Brad Snell – will also have matches against Western Australia (June 29), Queensland (August 3) and Vic Country (August 10).
All matches in the 2025 Marsh U18 AFLW National Championships will be live-streamed via the match centre on the AFL website and AFL Live Official App.
