South Australian midfielder Ben Camporeale has had his consistent 2024 AFL U18 National Championship campaign rewarded after receiving the John Halbert Medal.
Strongly-built Glenelg tyro Camporeale earned the SA U18 MVP award, after his solid showing across all four of the Croweaters’ matches.
This came on top of his selection in the U18 AFL All-Australian team, which was an honour also earned by SA U18 captain Sid Draper and emerging ruckman Alex Dodson.
Norwood’s Jacob Newton and Eagle Kade Herbert were recognised for their selfless attitudes across the campaign, Newton winning the Ron Coleman Best Team Man Award and Herbert taking home the Players’ Player Team First trophy.
Central District utility Dougie Cochrane, the son of former premiership Bulldogs Stuart, added to his Kevin Sheehan Medal win by receiving the Norm Grimm Medal as the SA U16 team’s MVP.
The Croweaters’ joint vice-captain also earned AFL U16 All Australian selection, together with polished Bulldogs teammate Jack Gordon, North Adelaide ruckman Ethan Herbert and South Adelaide playmakers Archie Van Dyk and Angus White.
SA U16 captain Kodah Edwards was awarded the Ron Coleman Best Team Man honour while Roosters’ tall Herbert received the Dr Henry Kneebone Achievement Award for displaying leadership and coachability.
