Sturt kept its winning streak alive in thrilling fashion by securing a one-point victory over Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium in Round 14 of the SANFL U16s.
After trailing by 23 points midway through the third term, Tiger Josh Jarrad goaled to put the Bays ahead by 17 points halfway through the final term.
But the ladder-leaders hit back by kicking four goals in the space of six minutes to snatch a dramatic late victory.
The in-form Bays won the midfield battle and had more of the ball in general play, but weren’t able to capitalise on their opportunities.
Sturt’s Evan Davies (28 disposals and eight clearances) and Naite Slade (20 disposals and six clearances) did their best work in the coalface, and forward Will Buckingham kicked three goals.
Tiger Koby Moir was typically influential with ball in-hand, finishing with 24 disposals, nine inside-50s and two goals.
North Adelaide pulled off a stunning comeback to defeat South Adelaide by two points at Flinders University Stadium.
The Panthers led all day, but the Roosters clicked into gear and fought back hard to put South under pressure heading into the final term.
North’s Joshua Henry booted two goals late in the fourth quarter to tie the scores, then two desperate behinds gave the Roosters their first lead for the day and, moments later, the victory.
The Roosters had an even spread of contributors, but the work of ruckman Ethan Herbert (17 disposals, 34 hit-outs and five clearances) stood out.
Archie Van Dyk (32 disposals, nine clearances and a goal), Kodah Edwards (21 disposals and two goals) and Cain Florence (24 disposals and six inside-50s) were all busy for South.
Central District lifted itself back into the top four thanks to an 11-point win over Norwood at X Convenience Oval.
Although Norwood never gave up and kicked five of the last seven goals, the Bulldogs led from start to finish and were clearly the better side.
Bulldogs ruck duo Callan and Hugo Semmler provided their teammates with first use and midfielder William Cameron had a day to remember, gathering 31 disposals, two goals and eight clearances.
The Redlegs coaching staff named Thomas Gribben, Samuel Bartel, Matthew Altamura among their side’s best players.
West Adelaide claimed its second win in a row courtesy of a 27-point victory over Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
A strong first quarter from the Bloods proved the difference, with both sides kicking just two goals apiece after half-time.
West’s Cameron Wildy accumulated 29 possessions and teammate Max Perin kicked two goals from 19 disposals.
Consistent Eagles midfielder Jack Leys continued his strong season by gathering a game-high 30 disposals and four clearances.
