Round 11 SANFL U16 Match Wraps

North Adelaide returned to the SANFL U16 winners list with a 42-point victory over Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Both sides started slowly but North upped the ante in the second quarter to establish what would become a match-winning lead, leaving the Eagles to rue inaccurate kicking in front of goal.

Joshua Henry had a strong outing in the red and white, booting four goals, while ruckman Ethan Herbert (18 disposals and 28 hit-outs) regularly provided his midfielders with first use.

Zack Lloyd (14 disposals and 13 tackles) and Jai Stokes (22 disposals and six tackles) battled hard for Woodville-West Torrens.

Sturt moved one game clear on top of the ladder after defeating West Adelaide by 56 points at Hisense Stadium.

The in-form Double Blues controlled the match right from the first whistle, holding the Bloods goalless in the first half and creating plenty of scoring opportunities at the other end.

Sturt midfielder Naite Slade was busy at stoppages gathering 30 disposals and six clearances, while forward Carter Gallasch finished with three goals.

Prolific Bloods Andrew Crispe (26 disposals and 12 rebound-50s) and Daniel Annese (24 disposals and five clearances) tried hard all day for the home side.

Glenelg recorded an important 23-point win over Central District at X Convenience Oval to stay in touch with the top four.

The Tigers had their noses in front throughout the contest and responded well whenever the Bulldogs got a sniff.

Glenelg on-baller Jacob McNicol accumulated a game-high 31 disposals in the win, with forward duo Ben Copping and Hudson Earl both kicking three goals.

The consistent Jack Gordon (28 disposals and a goal) and ruckman Hugo Semmler (17 disposals and 24 hit-outs) were among Central’s best.

South Adelaide made it three wins in a row courtesy of an 83-point victory over Norwood at The Parade.

Two goals in the opening three minutes saw the Panthers off to a flyer and their dominance continued for four quarters.

Talented Panther Zemes Pilot was dynamic and finished with 25 disposals and three goals, while on-baller Kodah Edwards (28 disposals and two goals) found himself among the best players once again.

James Annese (21 disposals and five rebound-50s) flew the flag on a difficult day for the winless Redlegs.
