South Adelaide midfielder Kodah Edwards has been selected as captain of the SA U16 Team ahead of its opening contest in the 2024 Marsh AFL U16 National Championships on Saturday.
Edwards, who has been named to start in the centre square for the Croweaters, will be supported by Central District pair Dougie Cochrane and Jack Gordon as vice captains throughout the three-game tournament.
To be coached by SANFL Coach and Player Developer Heath Younie, SA will kick off its campaign by hosting Western Australia in Game 1 at Thebarton Oval from 11am on Saturday.
Championship-winning SA U16 coach Julian Farkas will return as one of Younie’s assistant mentors, together with Brett Hudson and Chris Slattery while former Central District midfielder Brendan Dew will be the team’s runner.
After confronting the Sandgropers, SA will travel north to face Victoria Metro at People First Stadium on the Gold Coast on Tuesday July 9 before closing with a match against Victoria Country at Fankhauser Reserve at Southport on Friday July 12.
