Round 8 SANFL U16 Match Wraps

Central District recorded a thumping 87-point win against Norwood in Round 8 of the SANFL U16s at The Parade.

The Bulldogs wasted no time putting goals on the board, kicking 9.8 to the Redlegs’ 1.3 in the first half.

Charlie Moss was huge for the visitors, kicking seven goals, with teammates Jordan Ruchs and Brayden Whimpress bagging three goals of their own.

Central’s Jack Gordon racked up 33 disposals to go along with his 14 tackles and was well supported by Hugo Semmler who recorded 15 tackles and 30 hitouts.

Norwood’s Lachie Smith (19 disposals) and Kai Ivins (18 disposals) battled hard in defeat.

North Adelaide gained the upper hand against West Adelaide with a 11-point win against the Bloods at Hisense Stadium.

West held a 13-point lead at the first break, but the Roosters kicked 4.2 to Westies’ two goals in the second quarter and held their lead for the rest of the game.

Blake Rogers was once again excellent for the visiting team with 27 disposals and four clearances.

Memphis Webb also performed well for the Roosters (25 disposals, 10 marks), along with Alby Bradshaw (25 disposals, eight tackles).

The Bloods’ Daniel Annese (28 disposals) and Ryan McAulay (27 disposals, one goal) found plenty of the ball.

Sturt defeated South Adelaide by a significant margin of 59 points at Karen Rolton Oval. 

South only managed three goals for the game, with Sturt capitalising early and never giving the Panthers a chance.

Jesse Filmer and Tom Lindsay kicked three goals each for the Double Blues who now sit third on the ladder.

Jack Davies was excellent for Sturt with 24 disposals and 11 marks, and was well supported by Austin Huxtable (16 disposals, nine marks) and Phoenix Keatley (six tackles).

The Panthers’ Kangaroo Island product Cain Florance never gave in with 25 disposals and two goals.

Glenelg pipped Woodville-West Torrens by just four points Stratarama Stadium.

The Tigers went into the last quarter with a one-point lead and managed to hang on to grab the win.

Josh Jarrad was huge for Glenelg with five goals, with the Eagles’ Hunter Wellgreen kicking three goals of his own.

Glenelg’s Jacob McNicol was prolific with the ball 35 disposals and eight marks while the Eagles’ Jack Leys notched up 36 disposals and eight marks.
