SANFL is looking for the State’s best footballers with an intellectual disability to compete in the 2019 AFL National Inclusion Carnival.
On the back of its success in 2018 as runners up at the national carnival in Launceston, SA is looking to go one better this year.
This time around, coach Don Miranda has left no stone unturned in his search for footballing talent in SA, having so far staged trials in Mount Gambier and the Riverland.
Trials in the metropolitan area kick off this weekend (Sunday, May 19) at the West Adelaide Football Club.
“We are really keen to see if we can find some new players to reward with this wonderful opportunity,” Miranda said.
The AFL National Inclusion Carnival provides players with an intellectual disability an opportunity to represent their State or Territory, while also showcasing their skills and passion to the wider community.
The 2019 carnival will be held in Blacktown, New South Wales, from July 15 to 20.
Team SA will be hoping to shore up their chances of back-to-back grand final appearances as a result of the extensive selection process.
Three metropolitan trials will be held on Sunday, May 19, May 26 and June 2 from 10:00am to 11:30am.
