The 2024 Hostplus SANFL League season is set to launch in style with a host of blockbuster matches to kick off the Easter Weekend.
Boasting its family-friendly, tribal atmosphere at suburban venues across Adelaide, the SANFL men’s league is again expected to be hotly contested as it enters its 147th year.
Neighbourhood rivals Norwood and Sturt will open the season, going head-to-head at The Parade under lights on Easter Thursday, in front of what promises to be a bumper crowd.
It will be a footy feast on Good Friday afternoon, with regular combatants North Adelaide and Central District squaring off at Prospect Oval before South Adelaide hosts Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.
The battle for the west will take place at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval between Woodville-West Torrens and West Adelaide.
Glenelg then begins its premiership defence against arch enemy Port Adelaide in a twilight match at Stratarama Stadium, with the unfurling of its 2023 Premiership flag pre-match.
”There is a genuine air of excitement and anticipation for the 2024 Hostplus SANFL League season to begin,” SANFL CEO Darren Chandler said.
”And what better way to get started than a bumper fixture of matches on Easter Thursday and Good Friday – it promises to be a really festive atmosphere.”

In fitting fashion, arch rivals Glenelg and Port Adelaide Magpies will kick off the 2024 series of SANFL Super Matches with a festival atmosphere for footy fans of all ages.
Presented in partnership with The Advertiser, a number of marquee games throughout the season have again been identified as a SANFL Super Match, offering not only top on-field action, but plenty of fun activities around the ground – from bars and food trucks to club-branded giveaways and footy-themed activities.
Activities include the AAMI Lucky Zone, the ever-popular “kick and catch” on the oval, giant games, Coles Mini League, Sherrin footy skills targets and appearances by the TW Sherrin mascot, the Health Partners “bike n blend” smoothie creator and Hostplus celebration goal cards.
“At every venue, we want to ensure that SANFL footy continues to be an accessible, entertaining family-friendly experience for all ages to enjoy,” Mr Chandler said.
“Not only are you guaranteed high quality football, it’s a chance to cheer on your club at a local ground, get up close to your favourite League players and the up and coming stars of footy and enjoy festive match day experience.”
Live streaming of every Hostplus SANFL League match via both AFL and SANFL streaming platforms will continue in 2024, alongside the weekly live match broadcast on Seven and 7plus, with the North Adelaide versus Central District clash as the broadcast opener.
