Woodville-West Torrens nudged Sturt out of the U16 Torrens University Cup’s top-four with an exciting 11-point win at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Leapfrogging the Double Blues into fourth spot, the Eagles were forced to defend grimly in the final term as the visitors kicked 4.4 to their 2.0.

But the hosts’ 27-point lead at the final change was enough as Logan Hughes (20 disposals, one goal), Declan Walshaw and Isaac Edwards asserted their influence.

Sturt’s Fergus Kempe, Noah Roberts-Thomson (22 disposals, 10 tackles) and Connor Mills (18 disposals, two goals) led the late-game fightback.

Central District showed plenty of spirit to snare a draw with West Adelaide in a pulsating contest at X Convenience Oval.

Trailing at every change, the Bulldogs slowly reeled in their deficit which culminated in Charlie Nicholls tying up the scores with a behind in 23rd minute of the final term.

Bulldog Riley McDonald was a major factor in helping drag his side back into the contest with 40 disposals, 10 clearances, six tackles and a goal as Ariel Rothe and James Noack also played their roles.

West’s Angus Liebich (26 disposals, one goal), Fraser Morley (28 disposals) and Finn McArdle (three goals) shone for the visitors.

Norwood clung on for a thrilling five-point win against North Adelaide at Prospect Oval.

Leading at every change, the Redlegs were nearly forced to share the premiership points when Rooster Owen Kalic had a shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the final term.

Kalic, who was his team’s best with 34 disposals and a goal, missed his opportunity to tie up the scores, leaving the visitors with two minutes to hang on.

Norwood’s Jeff Rozenbilds ensured his team did so, collecting a team-high 24 disposals while teammate Errol Wood made the best of his chances with three goals.

Glenelg boosted its percentage with an 86-point victory against South Adelaide at ACH Group Stadium.

The Tigers had the game in control by the first change, slamming on an eye-catching 7.1 to the Panthers’ 1.2 in the opening quarter.

Performing well for the Bayes were Jack Wisneske (18 disposals), Charlie McAuliffe (30 disposals, two goals) and Max Robertson (five goals).

South had Dakota Sterzl, Hudson Voigt (15 disposals, two goals) and Jacob Sheean battling hard against the Tiger tide.
