SANFL is set to conduct an U16 Talent Hub Camp for the first time during the April School Holidays.
To be held at Thebarton Oval across three days (April 26-28), the SANFL U16 Talent Hub Camp will essentially replace the previous U16 two-day camp held in January for regional players.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, SANFL State Academies Manager Tony Bamford said it was important the new camp was held during school holidays to allow metropolitan and country players to attend.
SANFL clubs can nominate up to five players from their U16 talent program to participate as Bamford and the SANFL Talent Department begin to identify players to eventually join the SA U16 program later in the year.
The structure of the camp will be similar to the SANFL U18 Talent Hub camp held in January, with players to receive athlete education on well-being and mental health, cultural awareness and the SANFL talent pathway through to elite level.
Physiotherapist testing will also take place, together with movement and strength screening for players, who will participate in at least two football skills sessions.
SANFL clubs will aim to finalise their nominations early next week before invitations are sent out to selected players in early April.
