The Statewide Super SA U19 girls team has succumbed to the Allies by six points in their final AFLW National Championships match this week.

After losing to Victoria Country by 15 points on Monday, the Croweaters made a desperate late comeback with two goals in the fourth term only to fall short by one straight kick in Sandringham.

West Adelaide’s 15-year-old rising star Lauren Young was awarded SA’s MVP medal after a stunning display which yielded 37 disposals and an eye-catching goal on the run.

Sturt’s Alex Ballard kept her side in the contest with a goal on the quarter-time siren while Zoe Venning made the most of a 50m penalty to kick SA’s second goal.

Bloods pair Young and Venning were strong performers in Monday’s clash with Vic Country, together with Central’s Laitiah Huynh.

Norwood’s Jade Halfpenny kicked a classy checkside goal for SA early in the second term but this was to be their last major for the morning.
