Glenelg is back on the winners’ list after several lean weeks thanks to a six-goal effort from tall full forward Calvin Perks.

Perks had seven disposals for his 6.1 and also had 11 hitouts in the 14-point win against West Adelaide at ACH Group Stadium on Saturday.

The Tigers led from start to finish but the Bloods pushed them the entire way.

Glenelg twice got out to match high leads of 29 points during the third term but West Adelaide pegged it back to trail by as little as two points during the last quarter.

Kye Dean and Hagan Wright were fantastic through the midfield for Glenelg, both gathering 31 disposals and eight clearances.

Jayden Davis was also solid with 28 disposals and two goals for the Bays.

Eduard Van den berg continued his consistent season with the Bloods and on Saturday gathered 20 disposals and laid five tackles.

West Adelaide had some great contributors in the forward line with Luke Young and Izach Zinndorf both booting three goals.

Norwood midfielders Henry Nelligan and Cooper Murley had a field day at Coopers Stadium on Saturday, combining for 87 disposals, six goals, 16 marks and 13 clearances in their U18 Torrens University Cup match against Central District.

The AFL Academy SA Hub teammates were unstoppable as Nelligan collected 47 disposals, eight clearances, 10 marks and kicked three goals, while his partner in crime, Murley, had 40 disposals and booted three goals in their 87-point trumping of the Bulldogs.

Nelligan was a fitting winner of the Round 11 Torrens University Cup MVP nomination.

Nathan Maunder and Tom McDonald also booted three goals for the Redlegs in what was a complete performance by the top team.

Norwood started its assault in the opening term with five unanswered goals.

Matthew Borlace (25 disposals) and Brodie Tuck (21) started getting the hands on the football which helped Central District fight back in the second term, squaring up the quarter two goals apiece before the Redlegs piled on 10 more goals after half-time.

Billy Haebich also had 24 disposals and six clearances for the Redlegs, while Nathan Hearing played a great ruck roll with 21 hitouts along with 23 disposals.

Sturt survived a late scare from South Adelaide to register its eighth win of the season and sit second on the U18 Torrens University Cup ladder.

The game looked over late in the third term as the Double Blues had sailed to a 36-point lead, but the Panthers believed the game was far from done.

South kicked six straight goals in quick succession to take the lead with less than 10 minutes to go.

Sturt stopped the run on and rallied late, and with goals to Jacob Ferrari and Jordan Opperman, claimed a nine-point win.

Opperman was good all day with three goals from 12 disposals as was Sturt midfielder Tom Powell who claimed 27 disposals and kicked a goal.

While Powell was the Double Blues’ major ball-winner, he was down on his lofty standards in what has been an incredible year, averaging 35.3 disposals from his 10 matches.

Mani Liddy, who has also had a fantastic year for Sturt, had 22 disposals and kicked two goals.

Liddy and Powell’s AFL Academy SA Hub teammate, South midfielder Arlo Draper, was his side’s leading ball-winner with 29 disposals, 10 clearances and eight tackles.

Fourth-placed Woodville-West Torrens took on the fifth-placed North Adelaide in what was a big match that may decide the top four at the end of the season.

The Roosters ended up claiming a four-point win at Prospect Oval on Saturday, which was important as they now share six wins with the Eagles.

Woodville-West Torrens kicked the first three goals of the game through Jordan Kasianowicz and Jack Wheare (two) but North answered with three of its own to level the scores.

Wheare booted his third goal in what was an impressive first half.

The Roosters didn’t take the lead until Tariek Newchurch booted his first goal midway through a burst of four unanswered majors in the third quarter.

In a tight see-sawing last term, the Roosters just fell over the line, despite two late Eagles goals.

Blayne O’Loughlin was fantastic for North Adelaide with 28 disposals as was Matt Borg with 27 disposals and four clearances.

Jase Burgoyne again topped Woodville-West Torrens’ possession tally with 27 disposals and eight clearances.
