A late charge from the Torrens University SA U17 team wasn’t enough to overcome Western Australia after the Croweaters succumbed to a seven-point loss at Thebarton Oval on Sunday.
Trailing at every change, the hosts made a bold bid for victory in the final term, outscoring the visitors by booting 4.4 to 2.4 but it wasn’t enough to close the 19-point deficit at three-quarter time.
Crafty Croweaters’ goalsneak Jack Delean was in everything, kicking four goals for his side while Brodie Tuck added two majors.
Max Michalanney, the son of premiership Redleg Jim, was also prominent for SA together with Patrick Weckert and Kobe Ryan.
SA split its two NAB AFL U17 National Championship games against WA, winning against the Sandgropers by three points in June at Hisense Stadium.
WA 1.5 3.7 6.11 8.15 (63)
SA 1.0 3.1 4.4 8.8 (56)
BEST – SA: Delean, Michalanney, Weckert, Ryan, Tuck, Patton
GOALS – SA: Delean 4, Tuck 2, Ryan, Magor.
