SANFL is mourning the passing of Player Life Member Ron Elleway.

Awarded SANFL Player Life Membership in 1972, Ron played 204 League matches for Port Adelaide between 1961 and 1971.

A triple premiership player for the Magpies, the reliable full back featured in Port’s 1962, 1963 and 1965 flag-winning teams.

Well remembered for his left-foot kick, speed and aerial skills, Ron also lent support in the ruck across his decade-long career.

Representing South Australia on nine occasions, the 193cm backman was steadfast in his efforts while playing for the Croweaters on the last line of defence.

SANFL extends its deepest sympathy to the Elleway family as it honours Ron’s outstanding service to the game in South Australia.
