SANFL is mourning the passing of Player Life Member Gary Mousley.
Awarded SANFL Player Life Membership in 1980, Gary played 212 League games for South Adelaide between 1970 and 1982.
Affectionately known as ”Spider”, Gary was considered a reliable defender who played a major role in the Panthers’ semi-final win against Norwood en route to the 1979 Grand Final.
A member of the Panthers’ 1978 and 1979 Escort Cup Premiership teams, Gary was awarded South Adelaide Life Membership in 1980 and is one of just 16 Panthers to join SANFL’s 200-club in the club’s 144-year history.
In 1982, Gary switched SANFL clubs to Sturt, where he played a further three League games.
Upon retirement, Gary displayed his passion for the Panthers by remaining heavily involved with the South Adelaide Past Players and Officials Associations, including serving as President, and regularly working on game days, behind the bar and at the Past Players and Officials hut.
SANFL extends its deepest sympathy to Gary’s family as it honours his outstanding service to the game in South Australia.
