Woodville-West Torrens overcame a slow start to defeat West Adelaide by 31 points in the U18 Torrens University Cup Preliminary Final.
Conceding the first four goals of the game, the Eagles suddenly found themselves 27 points behind when West’s Tom Scully kicked truly in the 15th minute of the first term.
But that would be the only patch of dominance the Bloods would enjoy as the Eagles hit the front when Charlie Blair kicked his second major 25 minutes into the second stanza.
Blair’s third goal gave the Eagles a handy 15-point advantage at the final change which proved the catalyst for a commanding final quarter in which they kicked 4.6 to West’s 2.2.
Charlie Adams and Brock Thomson each collected a team-high 26 disposals for the Eagles while Dustin Launer continued his impressive season with 23 possessions.
Athletic key forward Jordan Lukac booted a game-breaking five goals from his 12 disposals and five marks while Blair (3.1) and Will Pearce (2.2) also hit the scoreboard.
Impressive West tall Harry Lemmey, who played two League games this year, racked up 20 disposals, 12 marks and three goals to try and haul his side over the line.
Strong-bodied Blood Luke Young nailed four goals from six kicks while Kobe Ryan (28 disposals) and Charlie Pridham (27 disposals) worked hard in the midfield.
The Eagles will now face Glenelg in the U18 Torrens University Cup Grand Final from 12.10pm on Saturday at Adelaide Oval.
