South Australia’s most exciting footy talent is set to take centre stage this Sunday when the Torrens University SANFL U16 and U18 Grand Finals are played back-to-back at Adelaide Oval.

Starting with the Torrens University SANFL U16 title-decider at 9:20am, the Torrens University SANFL U18s will then light up the home of SA football at 12pm as the ideal curtain-raiser to the Hostplus SANFL League Preliminary Final at 3.15pm.

Minor premier South Adelaide will lock horns with Sturt in the Torrens University SANFL U18 Grand Final after earning direct entry with a hard-fought victory against Central District in the Second Semi-Final.

South will be chasing its first premiership in this age group since it last saluted in 1994, when it was an U19 competition.

AFL Combine invitees Jack Delean and Taylor Goad will be ones to watch for the Panthers, with Delean’s eye-catching style of play resulting in three goals against the Bulldogs to open the major round.

The Double Blues – powered by promising father-son prospects Luca Slade, Ned Atkinson and Connor Mills – are eyeing off their first U18 premiership since 2017.

Top-of-the-table Sturt won through to the Torrens University SANFL U16 Grand Final with a comfortable win in the Second Semi-Final as it looks to win its first flag in this age group since 2015.

The Double Blues will tackle Central District, the Bulldogs booking a berth in the title-decider to chase their first flag at that level since securing the ultimate prize in 2004.

Darryn Melrose, Chief Marketing Officer and Industry Partnerships at Torrens University Australia, expressed immense pride in Torrens University’s long-standing partnership with the SANFL.

“This collaboration underscores our commitment to nurturing elite sports talent in South Australia, providing a platform for these young athletes to hone their skills and reach their full potential,” Mr Melrose said.

“We extend our best wishes to the participating teams, coaches, and players, and look forward to two exciting games of football.”

The Torrens University SANFL U18 and U16 Grand Finals will be streamed live and on-demand via SANFL Now at www.sanflnow.com.au or the SANFL Now App.

Team lists will be available on the SANFL App and website and featured in the SA Football Budget for $5 from vendors at Adelaide Oval.
