Sturt’s Lachie Burrows has won the 2024 7News Adelaide SANFL Goal of the Year for his stunning soccer solo effort in Round 6.
One of five players short-listed for the annual award in Hostplus SANFL Grand Final week, the agile Double Blues utility managed to edge out fellow finalists in Glenelg captain Liam McBean, South livewire Eamon Wilkinson and North Adelaide pair Sam McInerney and Nigel Lockyer to attract the most fan votes.
Burrows, who stands at 195cm, displayed his mobilty when he edged Central’s Brinn Little under the ball before turning to show of his speed while toe-poking the ball into his path before finishing with a memorable major.
Roosters McInerney, who produced a tight snap from the boundary, and Lockyer, who sailed the ball through from 70m, were certainly worthy contenders.
McBean and Wilkinson showed why they are regulars on the SANFL highlight reels, the Bays premiership skipper snapping truly out of the ruck while the Panthers’ goalsneak nailed a miracle from the pocket.
In winning his award, Burrows receives a $500 Visa gift card courtesy of Seven Network.
