There aren’t many faster than South Adelaide’s Benny Barrett in this year’s AFL Draft pool.
Boasting exceptional pace, Barrett has clocked impressive times of 2.91 and 2.87 this year for the 20m sprint, making him an attractive prospect as an elusive small forward.
The talented left-footer will be strongly considered by Port Adelaide as a member of the club’s Next Generation Academy, due to his parents being born in Papua New Guinea.
In the latest episode of South Aussie Select, Barrett tells of how he switched from rugby to Australian Football when arriving in Adelaide as a 12-year-old.
He has taken elements of rugby into his footy career while also soaking up the advice given to him by Power star Willie Rioli, who took him under his wing while training at Alberton this year.
