SANFL U18s Set to Soar in 2025

South Australia’s premier junior competition is set to shine as Round 1 of the SANFL U18s kicks off this weekend.

Extreme heat forecast for Saturday has resulted in the rescheduling of matches, with two games remaining at the Summit Sports and Recreation Park in Mount Barker.

Norwood and South Adelaide will now clash on Saturday morning at The Parade from 9.30am while West Adelaide will host North Adelaide at Hisense Stadium on Sunday from 11am.

Sturt will roll out the welcome mat in its local regional zone at the Summit when it confronts Woodville-West Torrens at 5.15pm, the first of a double-header on the pristine surface in the heart of the Adelaide Hills.

Glenelg will then tackle Central District under lights in the second match at the Summit, from 7.45pm.

Maximising player availability has again been a key focus in the SANFL U18 fixture, with an early season start and a number of bye weekends to ensure players with college commitments, or who live in regional areas, have more opportunity to represent their SANFL clubs during the minor round.

Now entering the fourth season of successfully introducing bye rounds for the U18 AFL National Championships and Inter Col weekend, midweek matches will again be another measure to ensure the state’s best footballers are showcased.

The SANFL U18 will conclude with a Grand Final at Adelaide Oval as a curtain-raiser to the Hostplus SANFL League Preliminary Final on Sunday September 14.

The SANFL U16 competition will begin next weekend, on Saturday March 22.
