SA footy players saving their smile with Health Partners Mouthguards

Norwood captain Jacob Kennerley displays one of the Redlegs' custom-made mouthguards.

Goal celebrations will be full of colour this season with SANFL and community footy players sporting custom-made mouthguards thanks to Health Partners.

As part of SANFL’s new partnership with the leading South Australian health insurance provider, any registered junior and senior footy player in SA will have the opportunity to proudly display their team colours on their custom-fitted mouthguard.

And for the first time, players can better protect their teeth and mouth in their favourite SANFL team colours – and display the SANFL club logo every time they smile on the field.

The team logo on Health Partners Dental mouthguards can be of any SANFL State League club, including Adelaide Crows, Central District, Glenelg, North Adelaide, Norwood, Port Adelaide, South Adelaide, Sturt, West Adelaide and Woodville-West Torrens.

As a bonus, players with Health Partners Better and Best Extras Cover will receive 100 per cent of the cost back on a custom-designed mouthguard at Health Partners Dental.

All other registered players can still receive a 25 per cent discount at a Health Partners Dental practice when they mention this offer when booking a mouthguard fitting appointment.

According to the Australian Dental Association, the most effective protection against oral damage is a custom-fitted mouthguard where precision fit and quality materials offer maximum comfort and injury prevention.*

Lead dentist at Health Partners Dental, Dr Aaron Parker, also says the best protection for the mouth in contact sport is a custom-fitted mouthguard.

“Overall, research has shown that custom-made mouthguards do offer superior protection compared to other types of mouthguards which are not custom-made,” Dr Parker said.

“This is because of a better fit and teeth coverage, and less interference with speech and breathing.”

The new partnership will also see Health Partners offer exclusive benefits in 2024 to all registered SANFL and affiliated community league players, coaches and umpires, SANFL and SANFL Club staff, including discounted health cover on selected cover types.

Health Partners has been looking after South Australians for more than 80 years and is the State’s largest open health fund. It is also proudly not-for-profit and provides cover for almost 100,000 individuals.
