Sturt remain the only undefeated team in the Torrens University SANFL U16 competition after it edged out Norwood by 25 points at Wigan Oval.
The Double Blues led all game and looked in control throughout, with Gill Wakelin booting four goals and Jackson Moody adding three to go with his 30 disposals and six clearances.
Sturt’s Louis Kellaway played a vital role around stoppages, roving well to ruckman Blake Thredgold to win eight clearances.
Redlegs on-baller Jeff Rozenbilds continued his consistent start to the year by gathering 23 disposals and a goal, with Robert Varcoe (two goals) the only multiple-goal kicker for Norwood.
Glenelg proved too good for West Adelaide under lights at Stratarama Stadium, with a comfortable 51-point win elevating it to second on the ladder.
Despite a goal-less third term, the Tigers put the foot down in the last to grab the points and a percentage boost, thanks to three goals each from Max Atkin and Reed Francis-Nia Nia.
Max Sweet (23 disposals and five marks) had his best performance of the season to-date, with Gus Welsby and Luke Candy (21 disposals each) also impressive for the Bays.
West Adelaide’s Jaylen Sochacki was gallant in defeat, gathering 27 disposals, 10 marks and a goal in the drizzly conditions.
The dominance of Central District ball-magnet Dyson Sharp proved the difference as the Bulldogs held off North Adelaide by seven points at X Convenience Oval in a nail-biting contest.
With scores tight throughout the match, Sharp, who was named in the All-Australian side at last year’s U16 championships, ran riot gathering 38 disposals, 12 marks, five clearances and a goal.
Dougie Cochrane booted three goals and Jett Poulish kicked two important majors with the game on the line to lift the Dogs.
North weren’t short of ball-winners either, with Sam Cumming (37 disposals), Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier (34 disposals) and Ben Francou (29 disposals) combining well through the midfield in an entertaining game.
An impressive second-half performance from Woodville-West Torrens saw them rise above the Panthers by 43 points at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
Eagles forward James Chalubek booted four goals from eight scoring shots, Logan Hughes kicked three and Noah Ah Chee and Owen Hartley-Brown both chipped in with two apiece.
Brock Jamieson (31 disposals) and Jack Cook (28 disposals) once-again found plenty of the ball in their sides win, with Lachlan Sands (26 disposals and eight inside-50s) also standing out.
For the Panthers, Jesse Nye topped the disposal-getters with 23, with Thomas Simpson putting together a strong performance with 20 disposals and two goals.
