Round 17 SANFL U16 Match Wraps

Sturt locked in the SANFL U16 minor premiership with a huge 145-point smashing of Norwood at Thomas Farms Oval in Round 17.

Eager to build momentum ahead of the finals, the Double Blues showed no mercy as they kicked 23 goals for the match and kept the Redlegs goalless after quarter time.

Nine Double Blues hit the scoreboard, Carter Gallasch leading the way with six and Taj Garrett contributing five, while Cameron Hood kicked the lone goal for the visitors.

When he wasn’t kicking goals in attack, Garrett was finding plenty of the ball in the middle, pairing his handful of majors with a game-high 38 disposals and six clearances in a standout performance.

Glenelg overcame an inaccurate Central District to claim a five-point victory at Stratarama Stadium.

Despite a spot in the finals being just out of their reach, the Tigers started strongly by kicking the first four goals of the game before the Bulldogs piled on five of the next six to snatch the lead.

Central’s scoring dried up in the second half and the Tigers were able to capitalise on their opportunities to secure the win.

Glenelg’s Harvey Croker capped off his terrific season by gathering 29 disposals and two goals, while Central’s Jack Gordon managed 32 disposals and one goal.

North Adelaide finished the minor round in third position following a strong 60-point win over West Adelaide at Prospect Oval.

The Roosters controlled proceedings right from the get-go, finishing with 61 more disposals and 29 more clearances than the Bloods.

North’s Memphis Webb was at his prolific best with 33 disposals and a goal, as teammates Lewis Grainger and Finn Blieschke both kicked three goals.

Midfielder Laurence Andriani found plenty of his own ball for West, accumulating a game-high 35 disposals and nine clearances.

South Adelaide continued its strong run of form with a comprehensive 90-point win over Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Although inaccurate at times, the Panthers were never troubled on the scoreboard as their strong midfield brigade presented their forwards with ample opportunities.

South ball-magnet Archie Van Dyk had 35 disposals, 10 marks and a goal, and teammate Kodah Edwards booted three goals from 22 possessions.

Tate Wolthers and Jack Leys were busy for the Eagles despite the loss, finishing with 29 and 27 disposals respectively.
