Central District premiership defender Maddy Lane was all set to celebrate her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League game in Round 2 this season.

But then, at the last training session before what was to be her milestone match, she suffered a major setback.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the normally durable 21-year-old dislocated her elbow, leaving her in excruciating pain.

Undeterred, the Barossa District product steeled herself to return as soon as possible, resulting in her being set to reach 50 games against Sturt at Thomas Farms Oval on Saturday.

Making her SANFLW League debut in Round 1 of 2019, Lane revealed it was also the day after her 16th birthday.

She has since become one of the Bulldogs’ most consistent performers and is determined to continue the chase for a second flag in as many years.

Undertaking a Bachelor of Primary Education at Uni SA, Lane is extremely busy outside of footy as she holds down three different jobs, including acting as a School Support Officer.
