Luke goes back to the future to 150 games

Glenelg’s Luke Reynolds is relishing his opportunity to go back where his career began, playing as a deep forward inside his team’s attacking 50m arc.

Preparing to play his 150th Hostplus SANFL League match against North Adelaide on Saturday, Reynolds has put his customary role as a high half-forward on hold while the Bays deal with the absence of injured Ken Farmer Medallist Lachie Hosie.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the dual premiership sharp-shooter said the move back to the goal square has freshened him up after booting 24 goals and averaging 5.5 marks in 2024.

The 29 year-old is poised to reach another major milestone, currently boasting a tally of 196 career goals since making his League debut with Port Adelaide in 2013.

Whether he reaches 200 games, to earn SANFL Player Life Membership, remains to be seen but Reynolds is still enjoying the opportunity to play at the highest level possible with the Tigers.

And with his team sitting inside the top three despite having to battle constant injuries to key players, the Henley High School teacher has the prospect of repeating last year’s premiership success firmly on his agenda.

Reynolds has his name etched on the No.7 locker at Brighton Road after appearing in 121 games for the Tigers, ensuring the lure to join the club’s plethora of superstar spearheads, with a stunning career record, remains strong.
