Norwood’s Jade Halfpenny would only watch a game of footy as a child if her father Warren bribed her with a cup of hot chips.
Now, as she approaches her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League game on Saturday evening, she reflected on how much she loves the game dearly having made the switch from basketball in 2020.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 21-year-old said she is itching to share her milestone match with teammate Shai Hiscock, who also made her debut with Halfpenny in Round 1 of 2020.
After reaching a high level of basketball with North Adelaide Rockets, Halfpenny delighted her dad when she opted to chase her footy dreams.
Warren played 26 League games for Norwood from 1990-1993, ensuring he continues to be a passionate supporter of his daughter at every game in the red and the blue.
Off the field, Halfpenny is studying a university degree on outdoor and environmental leadership while also beginning her coaching career with Scotch College’s girls middle school.
