Dads take centre stage for Father’s Day finals footy

Has your dad ever dreamt of running out onto Adelaide Oval and kicking a winning goal in front of a cheering crowd?

Well, that dream might become a Father’s Day reality this Sunday, September 3 as SANFL launches four weeks of finals fever with this weekend’s Hostplus SANFL League Elimination Final and Qualifying Final double-header at Adelaide Oval.

At 12.15pm, Central District and Port Adelaide square off in a do-or-die elimination final clash before Sturt takes on Adelaide in the qualifying final from 3.15pm.

SANFL is putting dads front and centre on the day as part of a bumper program of SANFL Super Match activities and activations across the 2023 Hostplus SANFL Finals Series.

On Sunday, three lucky dads will be selected from the crowd for a goal kicking competition with the winner walking away with bragging rights and an Attaboy Hair prize package valued at over $500.

The Attaboy Hair crew also will be on the Hill giving free haircuts ensuring dad looks his sharpest on the Adelaide Oval’s ‘DadCam’.

There’s also instant cash prizes of up to $250 up for grabs for spectators at the half-time breaks in the McDonald’s ‘Macca’s Mystery Fry Bucket’ competition.

And Fleurieu Milk will be giving away a prize pack valued at over $100, including tickets to the Royal Adelaide Show, in a father/child ‘kick and catch’ competition on the ground. The pair who marks the footy the most times in 60 seconds wins the pack.

The activities don’t stop there with SANFL Super Match activations and other giveaways on the day including:

  • The Advertiser Family Zone on the Lyn Fullston Lawns – featuring mini-golf, table-tennis, face painting, giant lawn games, footy inflatables and handball targets
  • AAMI Chillout zone – bean bags and deck chairs on the Hill
  • Coles Mini League games on ground
  • Barnacle Bill voucher giveaways via the ‘DadCam’ thanks to Powerade Australia

All Hostplus SANFL League finals will be broadcast live and free on Seven and 7plus, live streamed on SANFL Now and the official AFL App and live radio on 1629 SEN SA and the SEN App.

The Finals Series culminates with the Grand Final and Play On After Party on Sunday, September 24.
