There haven’t been many of James Battersby’s 199 Hostplus SANFL League games where he hasn’t ”played sore.”
But Sturt’s battle-hardened captain wouldn’t have it any other way as he does it for the love of the game and his beloved Double Blues.
A special guest on the latest edition of the Checkside Chats podcast, the 28-year-old details how he has managed to play his last 131 games in succession as he approaches his magical milestone against Woodville-West Torrens at Thomas Farms Oval on Sunday.
Battersby, who last missed a game in Round 7 of 2017, made his SANFL League debut as a 17-year-old in Round 3 against North at Prospect, with his first kick hitting the post.
Tune into Battersby’s in-depth interview to find out which rival captain he has developed a close bond with, as well which rival SANFL club he nearly ended up playing for early in his career.
