Fos Williams Medallist Casey Voss is learning fast about the meaning of the cherished red West End State guernsey after SA’s four-point win.

Despite not being born in South Australia, the Sturt defender was extremely proud to be rated as the Croweaters’ best player after tallying 29 disposals, 15 marks and four rebound 50s.

The 21-year-old showed plenty of ticker while wearing the State jumper, regularly showing courage while also constructing plenty of positive play from half-back for SA.

Joining South’s Matthew Broadbent last year and ruckman Michael Knoll in 2019 as fellow medallists, Voss is looking forward to chatting about his performance with dad Michael, who was coaching Carlton while the match unfolded.

Considered a chance to be taken in last year’s rookie draft, Voss said he was hopeful of being picked in the AFL mid-season draft but was also more than happy to continue with the Double Blues, who have started the Hostplus SANFL League season strongly.
