Eagles stalwart Amie Blanden says with every game, she gets a little less nervous beforehand.
That’s likely due to the fact she’s coming from a very high level of pre-game excitement considering her first game of football was Woodville-West Torrens’ SANFLW debut in Round 1 of 2019.
Not only was it a massive occasion for the club, the opening encounter was huge for Blanden, who has only missed one game since on the road to her 50th Hostplus SANFLW League match in Round 8.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 28-year-old had previously played netball and was involved in athletics before jumping at the chance to play her first season of football at Oval Avenue.
The incredibly durable utility has only missed one game since her debut and it’s fair to say she won’t forget it in a hurry.
Round 5 of 2019 saw Blanden squeezed out of the Eagles’ line-up due to form, furthering her hunger to regain her place in the best side after running water for her teammates.
As a result, she hasn’t let go of her position for the following three and a half seasons, ensuring her magical milestone would arrive against Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium on Saturday.
Off the field, the interior designer is loving the work-life balance that playing with the Eagles provides as she seeks to help her side climb up the ladder in the second half of the season.
