Played on the expansive Virginia Oval, the undefeated Two Wells Roosters, led by playing coach and 2023 SA State Country player Caleb Edmead, held on for premiership success against the Mallala Magpies, who were gallant.

Only eight points separated the combatants at half time, before the Roosters won a low-scoring match by 17 points, 8.12 (60) to 6.7 (43).

Another Adelaide Plains state country player from the Central Zone, ruckman Jakob Thompson, was a pivotal performer, while Edmead finished with three goals.

Former Central District league footballer David Haydon across half back, Noah and Luke Barnett, along with Dylan Wise and Jack Hankins were other Two Wells players who stood out.

For the Magpies Trey Mason, Kale Olds and Sam Angus were conspicuous.

Josh Wittwer exploded with a pair of majors and the Lions got to a 15 point lead, before the Tigers charged back into the contest, grabbing the lead with a goal 24 minutes into the final term of the year.

Hills Division 1

Nairne-Bremer wrote themselves into the Hills Division One history books, defeating Hahndorf in the 2023 Division 1 decider.

This was the Rams’ first Division One title since moving up from the Country Division five years ago.

To achieve this, they had to get over a power-packed Hahndorf Magpies outfit, who were undefeated across the 18 minor round matches.

After a big qualifying final win, Nairne-Bremer upset the Magpies in the second semi-final, getting up by 21 points at Johnston Memorial Park, Balhannah Oval.

Hahndorf won its way back into the decider, but the Rams were too strong in the end.

In a low scoring decider where goals were at a premium, the Magpies kicked the only major of the final term to win by that margin, getting up 6.5 (41) to 5.5 (35).

Jeremy Hackett kicked three of the six Magpies goals, while Daniel Wood, Jack Parker, Sam Hanna, Cameron Redden and Ethan Lynch were all conspicuous.
